The hackers struck resulting in the theft of sensitive information, including the personal data of approximately 147 million consumers e.g. credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, birth dates, and addresses. despite a chance being available for the vulnerability to be adverted, Equifax did not apply it on time. They faced significant backlash and legal actions due to the breach. These affected their customers badly because Equifax was not vigilant with their data protection in safeguarding personal information.
